Just two cute Texas A&M lovebirds in the woods.
This past week I received the honor of working with good friends from Midland/Odessa, TX. Their hearts were set on a destination engagement session in Oregon after they fell in love with Cannon Beach photos I had done in the past. Of course I was ready and willing to return to Oregon, as it is one of my very favorite places on Earth. We stayed right on the beach close to Haystack Rock and it was the most peaceful time I have ever had there. We shot over the course of two days and worked around the weather. It was a bit cloudy but we did get to see the sun come out at times. We were able to capture a variety of woodys, beach, and even night shots. Congrats to Sara and Mark! Im looking forward to shooting their destination wedding as well. Just wait till you see the epic chapel these guys are getting married in!
Catherine and Scott are an exceptional couple who really place high priority on photos and memories. I was impressed to learn about Scott’s mountain top proposal story. He had hired a photographer to meet them at the top of a peak at the ski resort in Steamboat Springs, CO. Not only was the photographer nowhere to be found, but after deciding to ski back down together, Scott had a bad fall on a spot of ice. Most of us would have probably stopped there but not Scott. He pushed through until finding the photographer and was able to propose. Days later it was reveled that Scott had actually broken off a small piece of bone in his shoulder and was starting to give him some pain. Wow, what a extreme proposal story! Since getting married the couple has taken anniversary photos every year and today was their actual three year anniversary. They live in Missouri City and chose to take their photos close by in their neighborhoods of Sienna Plantation. Who knew it was so beautiful and this neighborhood!? The first spot we stopped had trees that made me think of the Game of Thrones magical weirwood trees. No red leaves but Catherine had this amazing and timeless red flowy dress. No white walkers but we were met with an army of blood sucking mosquitos that chased us out of this enchanted groove of trees. The next location was just as magical and moody and these two look amazing. They even recreated a pose from their wedding day. “I am hers and she is mine. From this day until the end of my days.”
Whitney & Rodney really looked amazing today during their classy glam session. We started their engagement photos off at their wedding venue, LIFE HTX. LIFE HTX had some great options for getting the high fashion look that the couple were wanting. I had fun using a mix of different light, including natural, strobe, speedlights/gels. After leaving the venue Whitney and Rodney wanted to go to Houston’s graffiti wall for something a little more fun and relaxed. I usually don’t shoot outdoor sessions during mid day but luckily it had been rainy and was cloudy, so the light was soft. These love birds looked super cute in their black in white sporty wear. Nice job on the snazzy outfits today. You guys rock!
Nichole and Kyle’s wedding took place at Magnolia Bells, which is a newer venue tucked in the woods of Magnolia, TX. It was such a beautiful, woodsy and rustic venue that I felt like I was at resort somewhere far from civilization. Although rustic there were plenty of modern touches, such as the Brides Cottage. I was really surprised to see how amazing it was. It looked like a cabin from the outside but once you got inside you really felt luxury. The grooms room was above the church close to the bell tower. Everything was a short distance from each other but because of all the wooded areas it really felt secluded. This venue was really great for photos and all the textures and warm tones make the final product so inviting. I look forward to going back there soon. Need more #woodstherapy!
I had a blast shooting Lexi’s sister Adriana’s wedding last spring and we were able to meet and talk about wedding plans. It’s super cool when I get to work with a family multiple times. The Woodlands /Conroe, TX area was the perfect location for this Houston couples vision for a romantic and whimsical engagement session. We explored deep into the woods until we found the perfect spots with moody light. It’s late April and we definitely broke a sweat but it was worth the extra effort. These guys were so chill and down for anything. I especially loved their serious faces but we got some many fun moments too. Every time I said, “now give me steamy” they busted out laughing. It was a beautiful and therapeutic day in the woods at WG Jones State Forest. No mosquitos yet so we lucked out! Looking forward to Lexi & Micheal’s wedding in July. I’ll be wearing a tank top. lol. Just kidding, I’ll wear a tie with it too. :)
