Gavie + Jamie : Pleasure Pier Engagement

Gavie + Jamie

I met this cute couple back in January at an open house at the Lyceum, at historic landmark church turned wedding venue in Galveston, TX.  For their engagement session they wanted to stay with Galveston and chose the Pleasure Pier.  It turned out to be a beautiful summer day on the beach and I glad Alyssa Mejia came along to help.  Alyssa, my friend and client/bride marrying in Rudy in December 2016, is studying photography in college and loves engagement and wedding photography. Take a look at Alyssa and Rudy's engagement session here

This shot is actually pretty easy to do. You just need some flash to freeze subject and for this I'm using an SB910 with yongnuo trigger with a Magmod grid. I lowered my shutter speed to 1/50 and panned to the left quickly at the same time I took the picture. Of course you want to make sure your subjects are in focus. My settings = f/2.8, 1/50, ISO 1000. Nikon D810/ Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8

One of the shots I was most excited about trying was one we took on the ferris wheel.  Although it isn't the exact result I was going for, my inspiration was taken from a shot by one of my favorite photographrapers, Trevor Dayley.

There is a very short window of opportunity for this shot! I had the clients hold a Nikon SB910 speedlight which I triggered using Yongnuo kit. Taken with a Nikon D810. Pleasure Pier Engagement - Galveston, TX

Here is a behind the scenes shot of Alyssa holding a Nikon SB910 for a little side light.
